These parchment-like bells are dried Bells of Ireland blooms that I just left on the stalk in a flower bed instead of deadheading them. I thought they were pretty when they were Who knew they would be so beautiful past their prime?

  1. How beautiful! Bells of Ireland are beautiful any time -- a friend's daughter had them in her bridal bouquet. :)

  2. They are pretty in their dry form. It's nice to leave interesting seed heads & fading flowers in the garden.

  3. I had to read about them as I had never seen the Bells of Ireland before your blog. They appear to be very interesting. I am going to see if I can get some to grow in Mississippi. ~Alasandra

  4. Those are so pretty! They remind me (colour and texture) of my mom's hydrangea bushes when she lets the flower heads dry like that.

  7. Hi--my cousin, Christine Birmingham, told me about your blog. She knew we would have a lot in common. My blog, until yesterday, was roses roses roses but I have a thing about color coordination so I had to change it for the fall and winter. I love the name Rosehaven Cottage--my home and blog are called Dunhaven Place. So nice to know there is a kindred spirit out there so close (I live in a small town bordering Concord and Antioch). Have a great day! Heidi

  8. Oh, and I should add, your name sounds really familiar--though I am not sure why, we are in different stakes, etc. Also, I should say that I have a book coming out because Christine says that you and your readers might be interested. It is a Jane Austen era romance called Miss Delacourt Speaks Her Mind and will be out in December but is available for pre-order now at Amazon and Borders and all those good places. Thanks!

  10. How beautiful almost like ghost flowers. Wonderfully apt for Halloween. Well done for finding them.

  12. Cindy,
Oh, I do love these! I love the way the dried ones look better than the "live" ones. Just beautiful!
    Love you,

  14. You're taunting me, Cindy! Bells of Ireland have eluded me for three years now. Oh, last year I had one tiny stalk with a few bells on it and I was so happy to see that. This year, nothing. And I love them so... *sigh*
