Appreciating What I Have

Since my last post, I've been humbled to realize that I need to appreciate what I have instead of grumbling about what I don't have. With that, I've decided to post some of the photographs I've been able to shoot of the third major bloom of the roses this year. Although we usually have roses year round on select bushes, we only have two spectacular shows where the roses all bloom at once in profusion. This year (thanks to the extended summer heat) we've been blessed with a third encore performance.

"Ronald Reagan" Rose...

"Ronald Reagan" Rosebud...

"Golden Showers" Climbing Rose (the blooms are large for a climber)...

"My Fifi" Rose...

My pink mystery rose that was here before we moved in.
It blooms at odd times of the year and was blooming on Christmas Day last year...

All of these photographs will be available as cards and fine art photograph prints soon. If you have a particular interest in one (or more), please let me know and I can make it available to fit your specific needs.

  2. Cindy,
Your autumnal photos look just like Southern California--the same colors in the leaves.
    Love your photos!
Could that pink rose be Mary Rose?

  7. Beautiful shots. Great captures Cindy. Everything looks so lush and healthy, they should sell very well as cards and fine art prints.

  8. Going hand in hand with appreciating what you have is learning to be content. I used to have a very good friend (who has gone on to heaven) who asked me time and time again, "How did you learn to be content?" She felt it was the secret to happiness and I think she was right. Sadly, I don't think she ever figured out the way to be content in this life. I don't think being content means not desiring more, but simply being okay if you don't have it. I think you are perfectly content. :-)

  9. Beautiful roses Cindy. They make me want to go out and buy pink sheets and spray them in a rose scent just to feel like I'm relaxing in a rose garden. You have such an eye for the beauty around you. Don't ever lose it.

  11. A third bloom, wow! Your photos are gorgeous!

Cindy, I can't imagine you rueing what you don't have. I have always know you to be so positive. But we all have bad days. I hope yours are few and far between.

I have had so little time to blog and comment for the past 4 months, and I'm sure I've missed some great posts. And now we're going away again--which is good for family visits but bad for blogging!

    xxx Lynda
