Hubby and I took a road trip up to Plumas County last weekend because I wanted to share the beautiful mountain country with him before winter. I was just there the previous weekend with my mom (and Chica) so it was an extra special treat for me. When we went to go in to the local supermarket, the Lassen Animal Rescue had a couple of tables set up for their adoption day. We couldn't resist stopping and visiting with the sweet little kittens they had for adoption. I snapped a few photos so I could share them here.
This little one was so adorable that I asked to hold it briefly. Such a cute little ball of fur. As I was holding this one, another one was being cuddled and cooed over by his new mommy while his new daddy was filing out the adoption paperwork. It was so heartwarming to see a little kitten meeting his family for the first time. The way he was being pampered, I knew he would be adored for many years to come by the sweet young couple that were adopting him.Always remember that there are so many kitties, young and older, that are in need of loving homes. And once they have a home it is important that they are spayed or neutered as well as given lots and lots of love and attention.
Those that open their hearts and homes to these precious little creatures, will be so richly blessed.

All but one of our eight cats are rescues. I never dreamed we would have that many cats, but they're each adorable in their own way and the thought of what their lives would have been like had we not taken them in makes us know we did the right thing. Too many cats? Sure. But oh well! LOL.
ReplyDeleteMom, the two girls, and I are going to a cat show in Dayton on Sunday. There are always cats for adoption from the shelters there. It will be our third cat show and we're looking forward to it! Soooooo many beautiful cats to be seen!
Whew...I have to be careful when I see photos of kitties, because I immediately think we need more! Most of ours are adopted or rescued, and while I bring money for food in to our no-kill shelter now and again, I daren't go IN the shelter itself...because I KNOW I'll end up bringing home another one or two well-deserving children to add to the fold.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on urging people to adopt--and to do so responsibly. Our catchildren are all neutered and needled (and dare I say, somewhat spoiled too?)
I have 3 kitties...I have a weakness for them so I could not walk away empty handed...no..I have enough. LOL
ReplyDeleteMy Heart always goes out to them when I know they just need a good home and are such wonderful pets...I think I will always have a Cat...even when I'm an old lady!

As a formerly homeless cat, I was glad to see your post about the folks from Lassen Animal Rescue. If it weren't for people like them, there'd be a lot fewer cats like me with a good life.

ReplyDeleteIt's great that the Lassen Animal Rescue had organised an adoption day and I hope that many kitties found a good and loving home as they are all so deserving. But, like Jodi, I tend to avoid going into animal shelters and to occasions such as this, simply because it breaks my heart to see so many sweet kitties all looking for a good home.
