So I approached this bear's habitat at the zoo. The bear's back was to me. There was no one else there observing--just me. I moved around the edge, so I could see the bear's face better. It was dozing with its nose in the air, and its head bobbing to one side and then the other. Then, as if it sensed me there, it woke up and slowly lolled its head back and looked straight at me. It was the sweetest and most gentle look. It was touching... and sad. I kinda wish the bear didn't have to be there.
How sweet!
ReplyDeleteSo many times I've run across posts that put an annoying song in my head -- happy to say that today was just the opposite. Burt Bacharach is great. So was Dusty Springfield.
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly what I thought. He or She looks sweet and sad. I wish he or she could be in Yellowstone, don't you?~~Dee
ReplyDeleteAh, Cindy, it does look cute, but it also looks like it is sizing you up for dinner! Kind of wondering just how much energy it would have to expend in order to gobble you up.
ReplyDeletePoor little bear.

Hi Cindy,
ReplyDeletethat bear is so sweet! I know what you mean, I wish they didn't have to live in zoos too. I have never seen a real bear before, only on TV. One of my ambitions is to go to Canada in Summer or Autumn to see moose, bears and other wildlife that I wouldn't normally get a chance to see here in the UK. I'm not sure if we have any bears at all in this country...I'll have to check that out!
It sounds like you had a good time at the zoo!
Hugs from Meg and cats xxx
He does look rather forlorn and love sick, doesn't he? Like you, I have mixed feelings about zoos. At the same time, I'd rather observe him there, than run into him in the woods around my home!!
ReplyDeletePoor bear! But he doesn't really know any better, does he? Zoos are such a tough subject. The bear's expression reminds me of our little bichon. Cute!

ReplyDeleteI followed this blog for quite a while -it's a charity who rescue bears. I thought you might be interested.
Your bear has such a sweet expression. What a special moment to treasure.
I love your photo... what a sweet bear. Do you suppose he's happy? Do bears in a zoo ever hibernate?
ReplyDeleteWhat a great capture, Cindy! He does look gentle and sweet, and I too, wish we didn't hold captive, wild animals that should be free to roam their natural habitat.
ReplyDeleteAt least he SEEMS to be comfortable in his little area.
Such a beautiful sad soul. I have a hard time with zoos, its always facinating to see the different animals, but so hard to see them in the cages.
ReplyDeleteNice site, I will be back.
