Click here to read about our great meal at The Original Mel's Diner in Walnut Creek, California. (Be patient. Sometimes our reviews take a while to load over at foodbuzz).
I just read about Walnut Creek earlier this evening, but can't remember where. Ah, the joys of forgetfulness and age!
The review was good - now I'm going to go off to sleep dreaming about the burger or, better yet, the hot beef dip that you ate. I'd have selected this above the burger!
Wow, I've always wanted to go to an American diner exactly like that one! Mmmmmm, that looks so good and I bet it tasted good too! :) Glad you had a good time, from Meg and the cats xxx
It sounds as if you had a really nice time! I wish I could get MY husband to cook, but all he accedes to is occasional scrambled eggs! When we go out, it's because I don't want to cook!
I love 50s decor and music, and I can imagine you two humming along! Thanks for the cozy and nostalgic post!
Oh that looks yummy! When I lived in Naples, Fl they had and "orinial" Mels Diner too...I am sure it really was not the original - lol. But they had great food too! Penny
Your dining eperience sounded so good my mouth is watering :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice change and a break from cooking yourself!

Hi Cindy, I have a little award for you, so you might want to stop by and pick it up. Catherine
ReplyDeleteIt looks and sounds like you both enjoyed yourself a lot there. Humming along with the juxebox, always a good thing! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI like my onion rings with ketchup too. I have no idea what au jus is, we probably call it something else over here.
