The hummingbird calls from the winter wisteria

I hear him before I see him.

His tiny chirp
Easily missed by unaware ears.

He sits atop a leaf-bare vine
Singing to the mid-day sun.

    I LOVE hummingbirds. We get quite a few in our yard. We even had a hummingbird nest in early spring last year....until it was tragically destroyed by an errant soccer ball. I'm hoping they come back again this year.
